Hello. My name is Amy. Nice to meet you
Who am I?
After doing a gap year, which involved mucking around and working in a shop three or four days a week, I’ve started to study Philosophy at the University of Warwick.
I play the saxophone in Bedworth Wind Band, which is very fun and very lovely. We play things like the Ground Force Theme tune, The Great Escape, Over The Rainbow and a Mamma Mia medley, usually for people in old folk’s homes to cheer them up
I read pretty much anything I can get my hands on, and one day I want to be a professional writer. I’m working on my first novel, but progress is going very slowly due to me being very, very busy, but hopefully one day I’ll be all over the best seller’s shelves in Waterstones
When I’m not playing music, reading, writing, or talking about any of the above, I’m taking photographs. I always have a camera on me, and I apologise for shoving it in peoples’ faces. On January 1st 2009, I started the 365 Self Portrait Project – basically, a self portrait every day for a whole year – which has been very fun and very interesting, but is bloody difficult. After about 100 days or so, photographs of your face from above (The traditional “MySpace Pose”) get a bit boring…
I’m also into things like comedy, superhero films, sci-fi, and gaming. I actually work in a shop that sells games, with fantastically lovely people who are as geeky as me. I’m ridiculously clumsy, I love Starbucks, and I have an irrational fear of Noel Edmunds.
Why is this Blog called Jimsy Jampots?
When I was younger, I had many different nicknames. The most popular was “Spud”, because I have a potato shaped birthmark on my right temple. I was also called “Amy Jimsy Jampots Jones” for some reason, and I thought it sounded better than “Spud”.

Some of my friends study German. I don’t think it’s a real language
Nice to meet you

Hi Amy! Yes, I have indeed been reading your blog for some time now, and I’ve actually come THIS close to commenting on a number of your posts, but then I guess I’ve let my shyness get the best of me lol I only just realised I must’ve seemed like a regular stalker, coming round every day and not saying anything. Erm…
Anyhoow. My name’s Tiina, I’m 21 and from Finland. I came across your blog by chance and really loved your writing style. I think it’s witty, original – and I LOVE your use of English! You also seem to be going through many of the things I myself am dealing with at the moment – on reading many of your posts, I’ve thought to myself “Wow, it’s as if I wrote this!”
As for my own blog, I AM determined to get it up and running some day soon. I’ve just become so incredibly lazy because I’ve been away from school for two years and haven’t been FORCED to write or do anything useful. Well, at least that’s about to change as I just learned on Thursday that I’ve been accepted to study English at university – wopee!
But I am going to try and find some time to devote to “Moggytales” as well. I’m so happy you like the layout! I must’ve gone through 50 different options before I came up with this one. It’s my baby girl in the header, doing what she does best
(mind you, I really should stop calling her a baby as she’s already eight years old… lol)
Oh well, now I’ve gone and rambled again. I’m sorry
It’s really my biggest sin as a writer – I don’t know when to stop…
Am looking forward to your next post!
Love, Tiina

Hey Tiina, nice to finally meet you! I’ve been seeing your Blog on my views for ages, and wondered who was behind the name
I’m often too shy to comment on Blogs I like, especially the Big Blogs. I’m glad you finally did, though, because I like having lots of people to chat to on here.
I’m blushing at your comments on my writing style, thank you, that’s really fabulously kind of you
I’ll keep checking you Blog, my dear, for when you update it.
And don’t worry about rambling on Blogs – it’s good, gets a nice conversational style!
Hopefully be seeing you around comments a bit more …
Amy xx

Yes, I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of me now that we’ve got the “communication lines” open
It’s the first comment, I think, which is always the toughest!
