Remember I wrote about the Simon Amstell gig with the really crap audience?
Well, I felt really bad for Simon (how horrible it must be to stand on a stage and tell jokes whilst no-one laughs!) so I sent him an e-mail saying:
“I’m not sure if I’m sending this to the right place or not, but it’s the only address I could find to contact Simon.
I was at the Warwick Arts Centre gig last night, and I just wanted to tell Simon that he was incredible. He was so, so funny – but more than that, he was intelligently so. It was absolutely fantastic, one of the best nights out I’ve ever had, and I wanted to congratulate him on it.
(Plus I think he needs to know how funny he was – the audience last night was absolute crap. Were they just too stupid to appreciate Simon’s jokes? They may have been. Really, really bad audience. Boo to them)
Just wanted to say that, really. He really was fantastic last night, and I’ll keep a close eye on when I can come see him again.”
I just got an e-mail back:
“Hi Amy
Thank you so much. It’s such a lovely email to receive. I’ll pass it on to his agent.
Best wishes
Beth”
And now I have The Goodness Glow – you know when you do something without really thinking about it, and it turns out that it has made someone happy. I hope it cheers Simon up a bit – he seemed a bit dejected on stage because of the bloody crappy audience.
*glows happily to self*
Right. Revision…
UPDATE: About ten seconds after posting this, I received another e-mail from someone who I assume is his agent.
“Hi Amy,
Thanks for your email. I’ve forwarded it on to Simon.
Best wishes,
Helena “
So. I guess he’s got it then. Hope he likes it.

My parents just said “So you might be starting up a correspondence with Simon Amstell, then?”
In my dreams.
