In the beginning…

For most of the people reading this, you’re already very familiar with me and how I Blog. You’ll have been following The Other Blog, and probably been a bit surprised when I told you that the name you’d been calling me affectionately for months wasn’t actually my real name. Well, surprise :-)

You may have been wondering why I’ve decided to do this, and change to a different Blog. It’s not an easy question to answer; The Other Blog was going quite well, really, it had lots of posts on it, almost a whole year’s worth of archives to its name, and there really didn’t seem to be a problem.

Well, there was.

First of all, re-reading the posts I wrote in those first months made me cringe. It had been my first real attempt at starting a Blog, and it took me a while to find both of a style of writing and a subject matter that agreed with me. I tried to be too political, too issue-y at first. I was saying things just for the sake of saying things; my posts didn’t really have any meaning or substance to them. After a while I seemed to turn into a teenage stereotype, keeping an angst-ridden diary, before just keeping a journal of my day-to-day life. Re-reading my posts, I just felt embarrassed.

That’s another reason, actually. Embarrassment. I’ve grown up one hell of a lot in this past year, and my posts reflect that. More and more people that I know were finding my Blog, and the thought of them reading those earlier posts was horrible. That thought was stopping me from letting my friends read my Blog, and they’d started to ask me about it and ask to see it. After the initial “NOWAYYOUCAN’T!” I found that I wanted my friends to read it. If you’d've asked me a year ago whether I wanted my friends to read my most personal thoughts, I would have said “no” before you’d finished the sentence. Now, I do. Simple as that.

So I’m going to TRY and be as honest as possible…I’m going to pretend that no one I know is reading this because there is of course there is a huge chance that no-one will and even if they do I’m not sure I mind. Hopefully, nothing will change. Hopefully.

So, this Blog was born; Jimsy Jampots. Feel free to comment on it :-) In fact, please do; it makes me feel popular ;-)
